Barbara McCartney, CEO
Barbara is an accomplished multi-country business leader in the food, nutrition and wellness space. Barbara has held General Management and Marketing roles with Nestle Health Science, Novartis Nutrition and Abbott Nutrition. As North American President of Nestle Healthcare Nutrition, Inc. she ran a $650MM retail, online and clinic-based nutrition business and drove exceptional growth. She is a true innovator who launched the now $2B+ nutritional beverage category, created the first ethical nutrition e-commerce platform and has developed disruptive product news across a range of food and wellness categories. Barbara holds a BS in Education and Social Policy and MBA in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University.
Jack Connelly, VP of Business Development
Jack brings experience in start up operations, healthcare M&A, and commercial real estate portfolio development. Jack is currently a Principal at JVC Investment Partners where his responsibilities include investment sourcing, business due diligence and valuation analysis. His prior roles have included leadership of Drive Through Medicine LLC, an early-stage primary care venture, sourcing and analyzing commercial real estate investments at Magnolia Capital, and M&A Analysis at Stericycle, the industry-leading compliance company for healthcare organizations. Jack holds a BA in Public Health and Entrepreneurship from Johns Hopkins University and a MA in Health Informatics from Northwestern University.
Dr. Michael Davidson, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer
Michael is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Lipid Clinic at the University of Chicago and board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and clinical lipidology. His extensive research on statins, novel lipid-lowering drugs, anti-obesity agents and nonpharmacologic risk factor reduction has established him as a key opinion leader in this area. He has coordinated more than 1,000 clinical trials in areas of preventive cardiology, published more than 400 articles for leading medical journals and has written 3 books on Lipidology. Expertscape ranks him the #4 lipid expert in the world. Michael is also CEO of New Amsterdam Pharma. Previously he was the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Corvidia Therapeutics which sold to Novo Nordisk, cofounding Chief Medical Officer of Omthera Pharmaceuticals which was later acquired by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, and founder of the Chicago Center for Clinical Research. Michael received his BA/MS from Northwestern University and MD from The Ohio State University School of Medicine.
Jonathan Jonas, Co-Founder
Jonathan leads JVC Investment Partners. Jonathan has over twenty years of business experience in the healthcare and financial industries and has driven significant growth in JVC’s assets under management. Prior to joining JVC, Jonathan held various positions of increasing leadership and responsibility at Boston Scientific Corporation, working in finance, sales and operations, including overseeing sales operations in Boston Scientific’s Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. Jonathan is a registered CPA in the State of Illinois. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan, a General Course Degree from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
